A fade is either blended or it isn’t, and most of the difference happens in the last five minutes. This is the cut we are asked for most, and the one we take the longest over.
A skin fade takes the hair down to nothing at the bottom and brings it up through the guards so cleanly that you cannot point at where one length becomes the next. Done badly you get a shelf. Done properly you get a gradient.
We will talk about where you want the fade to start — low, mid or high — and whether you want it tight to the skin or dropped a fraction, which is often kinder if you are growing it out or your hair is fine at the temples. Then we check which way your hair actually grows before anything comes off, because a fade that fights a cowlick will look wrong by Thursday no matter how sharp it was on Tuesday.
Thirty minutes. Washed, dried and styled before you leave. If you want the beard squared off to match, that is our beard trim on top, or take the combination price and save a few pounds.

How much is a skin fade in Nottingham?
A skin fade at Evoke is £28, or £22 for students Tuesday to Thursday with a valid student ID. A skin fade with a beard trim and hot towel is £45.
How long does a skin fade take?
Around thirty minutes. We would rather take the full half hour than rush the blend.
How often should I get a skin fade?
Most people come back every two to three weeks. A skin fade grows out faster than a longer cut because the shortest part is the part that shows first.
Can I get a skin fade without an appointment?
Yes, if there is a chair free. Walk-ins are welcome but Saturdays fill up early, so booking is the safer bet.
